Portugal North Coast

There were buildings here from Roman times with it changing hands many times until being captured by the King of Castile and Leon in 1064. Changing hands again and then under Portuguese rule, King Sancho, 1185 - 1214, ordered Montemor-Velho and its castle be repopulated in the 1200s. It came under Spanish control again before returning to Portuguese hands in the late 1200s. Parts of the buildings have been destroyed and rebuilt over these turbulent times.
